As much as I wanted to create an entire collection to take on the trip, I also knew that we'd return home full of inspiration. I left the design of one piece – the Bernie Dress – as a post trip treat for myself, thinking I'd use landscape photos to create a print. I happily spent the majority of the trip glued to a window with my camera shooting the rapidly changing landscapes. I never would have imagined that the passing views out the train window would captivate me as much as they did, the wide open vistas mixed with the rocking of the train cars, was almost like a meditation. 

I returned home with over 3,000 landscape photos, and narrowed them down to 6 to create this pattern. The colors are moody and grounded, and we can't get enough of them. From a distance the subject of the photos isn't recognizable - it looks like an incredible mosaic. Only up close can you see each image is really a landscape with sky, trees, clouds, and plains. 

Our Bernie Dress is a fan favorite. The easy drape, adjustable straps, and side pockets make this the most versatile piece, great for travel, Sunday mornings, or a fancy dinner out (Last night I wore it to a 8mm film screening and felt very cool).  And the dramatic color story of this dress will be so satisfying to style - browns and blues, your time is now.
