Southern Life / Status Report

February 17, 2015

Our new life in the South is off to a fantastic start.  We've been here 7 months already and it's definitely starting to feel like home. After realizing I was pregnant 4 days after our big move from NY, it's been a whirlwind! We've renovated a house, set up the STATE studio, and embraced this next chapter wholeheartedly. The slower pace is a godsend, and perfectly timed for pregnancy! (I could never have napped this much in NYC!)

As I plan for the future of STATE I have lots of big dreams. I spent the summer finding local seamstresses to take on production and keep the rhythm of design flowing. And thanks to my new spacious studio, I've rekindled my love for hand-painting and dyeing and am thrilled to integrate those processes into future collections.

The little one is coming any week now, and I am extraordinarily excited for this next chapter. STATE will inevitably evolve and adapt and I'm looking forward to the surge of inspiration that motherhood brings. I won't be taking an official maternity leave, but will slow production a bit over the next few months. We have a fun collection coming in May, so stay tuned. And in the meantime we hope to have regular smock updates!

As always, thanks for all the support and love. STATE wouldn't exist without our incredible fans and I feel so lucky to be able to do this everyday. Hopefully I'll be able to do it just as well with a baby strapped to me!
