We’ve always dreamed of making our own matchboxes here at home, and this newest addition proves it’s possible. Born from an experiment to bring production stateside, our Made in the USA matches are just as charming as the originals — and carry a little extra spark of independence.

To make it happen, we transformed the STATE studio into a makeshift match factory. Sewing machines were nudged aside to make room for stacks of supplies, and our entire staff transformed into assembly-line pros. Together, we built this special run by hand — just under 2,000 boxes in total, and when they’re gone, they’re gone.

The hand-painted design, created by Adrienne at her kitchen table, is a folk-Americana collage of everyday icons: a hot dog, an eagle in flight, a garage with odds and ends, golden wheat, a barn quilt , and a nod to peace. Each side reveals its own clever details and brushy character — you’ll find something new every time you turn it over.

The sliding drawer holds 80 4" matches (with colorful heads, naturally), and the oversized striker on the bottom gives you plenty of power. Pro tip: when the matches are gone, refill with any other 4" matches to keep the art alive.

Whether on your mantle, tucked on the back of the toilet, perched by your bedside, or wrapped as the perfect gift, these matches feel like home — and now, they’re made at home too.
